Incoming legislation puts Thailand in place to implement its obligations under UNSCR 1540, write Stuart Simons and Sujitra Sukpanich.   The Trade Controls on Weapons of Mass Destruction (‘TCWMD’) Act, Thailand’s export control regulation on dual-use and military items, received Royal assent and was published in the Royal Gazette on 30 April 2019. The act will become effective on 1 January 2020 and is Thailand’s implementation of its international obligations under the United Nation’s Security Council Resolution 1540 to counter the global proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (‘WMD’).
