Emily Cromwell specialises in complex, global export control matters and regularly helps companies manage the extra-territorial application of the ITAR and the EAR, in conjunction with local export control requirements in North America, Europe and Asia.

Ms. Cromwell’s practice focuses on export control audits and assessments, multi-jurisdictional compliance programme development, strategic export planning for hardware and technology transfer, and export control due diligence in support of M&A and divestiture activities.  She has significant experience in the aerospace & defence, space, and manufacturing industries. Her risk assessment and audit work ranges from focused compliance programme risk assessments, reviewing compliance with local and U.S. law in areas such as technology transfer and jurisdiction determinations, to comprehensive ITAR consent agreement transactional audits.

Ms. Cromwell serves as the co-chair of Tech America’s Export Control Reform Sub-committee, leading efforts to benchmark corporate activities to manage and implement ECR changes. In this capacity, she regularly facilitiates roundtables and other educational opportunities, helping companies discuss and collaboratively address the global impact of the reform efforts.  At Deloitte, she is involved in advising clients on both the impact ECR will have upon them and helping them strategically manage the transitions brought about by ECR, focusing on jurisdiction and classification reviews, ECR training and the impact ECR will have on automated trade solutions.

Emily joined Deloitte from a publicly traded American company, where she established and administered the global export and anti-bribery compliance programmes.  Emily earned a B.A. degree with Honors in Humane Letters from the University of Oklahoma and a Juris Doctor from the College of William and Mary.
