She is a dual U.S.-English qualified lawyer and has worked in the firm’s London, Washington, DC and Palo Alto offices since 1996.
Ms. Stafford Powell advises on export controls, trade and investment sanctions, anti-terrorism controls, anti-corruption and anti-money laundering rules, U.S. anti-boycott laws, and U.S. foreign investment restrictions under the Exon-Florio Provision. She counsels in the context of compliance planning, mergers and acquisitions and other cross-border activities, licensing, regulatory interpretations, voluntary disclosures, enforcement actions, internal investigations and audits, and risk assessments. She develops compliance training, codes of conduct, compliance procedures and policies. She has particular experience in the following sectors: software/IT, travel/hospitality, financial services, telecommunications, semiconductors, manufacturing and energy.
