UK reinstates control list classification advisory service

The UK’s Department for International Trade (‘DIT’) and Export Control Joint Unit (‘ECJU’) have issued a notice to exporters to announce that its control list classification advisory service has been re-introduced as of 25 June.

The service had been suspended from June 2014 for ‘operational reasons.’ The service assesses goods and technology against the UK strategic export control lists and is accessed through the SPIRE online processing system. Each enquiry is limited to a maximum of four items and multiple enquiries should not be submitted.

A notice to exporters has also been issued alerting exporters to a change in the email address format for all DIT staff in the ECJU to forename.surname@trade.gov.uk. The change will be effective from 30 June.
