Update to EU list of dual-use controlled items for UK exporters imminent

The UK’s Department for International Trade (‘DIT’) and Export Control Joint Unit (‘ECJU’) has published a notice to exporters alerting them that the EU list of dual-use controlled items is expected to be updated soon. The ‘non-objection’ period for the EU Council and Parliament to comment on amends to Annex 1 of Council Regulation (EC) 428/2009 expired on 10 December. The updated control list will reflect changes agreed in international export control regimes, including the 2017 Plenary of the Wassenaar Arrangement. Once the regulation has been published the EJCU will outline changes to open general export licences (‘OGELs’).
