EU Member States agree on framework for targeted sanctions against Nicaragua

These sanctions would consist of asset-freezing measures and/or travel bans on individuals/entities that the EU would consider responsible for: (1) human rights violations or abuses in Nicaragua; (2) repression of civil society and democratic opposition in Nicaragua; and/or (3) undermining democracy and the rule of law in Nicaragua.
