EU sanctions Guinea-Bissau coup leaders

The European Union has frozen the assets of six individuals whom it claims ‘seek to prevent or block a peaceful political process, or who take action that undermines stability in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau’. On 12 April, members of the military seized power from the government as the country prepared to hold elections. The EU measures apply to those who played a leading role in the coup ‘…and whose actions continue to be aimed at undermining the rule of law and the primacy of civilian power’. The measures include the freezing of funds and economic resources of the individuals concerned...
