Extradited UK businessman arrives in USA

UK businessman Chris Tappin, who for the past two years has been fighting his extradition to the United States to face charges of exporting batteries for use in missiles, to Iran via the Netherlands, arrived in the U.S. on 25 February, having driven himself to London’s Heathrow airport. Sixty-five year old Tappin faces a possible 35-year jail term if convicted. He attended his first hearing on 29 February. Tappin, along with several campaign groups, has been highly critical of the extradition treaty between the U.S. and UK which, he says, is ‘unfair’, making extradition very much easier from the UK...
