Jennifer focuses on advising companies how to strengthen their import and export compliance programmes in a practical and effective manner.

Her practice in export control issues has included helping companies navigate export control regulations, including Department of Commerce Export Administration Regulations, Department of State International Traffic in Arms Regulations, U.S. Census Bureau Federal Trade Regulations and the EAR antiboycott regulations. Jennifer has conducted internal audits, prepared export compliance trainings, and analysed deemed export issues related to foreign national employees, including obtaining deemed export licences. Her prior experience working with Fortune 50 companies has enhanced her practice in deemed export issues.

Her practice before U.S. Customs and Border Protection includes strategising prior disclosures, review of anti-dumping/countervailing duty applicability and submission of scope requests to the Department of Commerce, free trade agreements, analysis of customs valuation issues, classification and assisting companies in preparing for and representing them in customs audits/focused assessments. Jennifer designs import compliance programmes for companies that focus on mitigating risk while maximising potential for preferential duty programmes.

Jennifer routinely presents on a diverse range of export and import compliance topics, and across a range of industries in fora such as the Southwest HR Conference, Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals roundtable, World ECR Forum and Texas Customs Brokers Association.

Jennifer earned a Bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature and Italian from Emory University (Atlanta, Georgia) and a J.D./M.A. in International Affairs with concentration in Latin American Studies from the University of Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania).

Jennifer has worked in several Latin American countries, as well as in Italy for the U.S. Embassy through a State Department internship. She speaks Spanish and Italian, and she is licensed to practise law in the state of Texas.
